People get all riled up talking about Krug& #39;s future, if there is a good deal to be made, go for it, he& #39;s a great guy, leader, heart, and good player. But I have no problem playing devil& #39;s advocate before a huge contract is given and these are some things that stand out to me.
In polling on here there has been a pretty major shift from "they will and should re-sign him" to "they won& #39;t and should not."
Most sheltered D the last 3 yrs:
Off. Zone Faceoff %
67% Krug
61% Barrie
60% Dunn
59% Sergachev
With that, Krug& #39;s "on-ice" 5v5 ranks last 3 yrs:
51st/114 in Goals/60
49th/114 in xGoals/60
73rd/114 in High Danger Attempts/60
How are B& #39;s so mediocre on 5v5 offense with him??

No question that Krug is a power play master, but how much of a drop-off will happen? How much of a premium is Sweeney going to pay for PP quarterbacking skill?
Given his lack of penalty killing time, and how sheltered he is on 5v5 faceoffs, I think that says a lot about what the team thinks of his defending skills. But maybe I& #39;m way off base there?
