hello friends i am running on almost,,, zero sleep. Mango got spayed yesterday and i spent the whole night on the couch looking after her bc this cat has no chill and would not stay put
she's no longer scared, i think, so she's doing a lot better today and actually resting. I,, am so tired :D
Okay so update, Mango keeps trying to snuggle up to Juno for comfort but Juno is a) aware that Mango is injured somehow and scared to touch her and b) hecking bamboozled by the cone
So Juno just kinda... Gingerly sidles away when Mango comes close. But sits close enough so their paws can touch or they can look at each other which 😭😭😭😭😭
Hello friends, I'm back with a not-so-great update. It turns out that the clinic that did Mango's procedure massively fucked up and my poor baby got an infection 😭
Things they did (according to the new, better vet who had to fix their mistakes):

- made the incision too big
- did not sterilize the cut properly
- did not stitch the wound up properly
The new vet had to recut, clean out the infection, and restitch her.
It's been a tough week. Everyone in my house (including myself) have been sick this week, and I've been having to juggle nursing everyone and Mango.
Yesterday I was taking comfort in the fact that the first week, the hardest week, was over. But today happened and it looks like I have two more weeks of this.
There's more I have to say about the first clinic, but I think I'll get to that tomorrow. I'm so tired.
I just feel so bad for poor Mango. She's so smol, and she's had a really tough week. All this must be so traumatic for her and I wish she didn't have to go through it 😭😭😭
I just remembered that I have scam artists to destroy.
Basically, when we noticed that Mango's wound wasn't looking good, it was too late to take her to the navy vet, which is where we usually go
And we didn't know if the clinic that did the surgery at was open. So I found the prescription for the pain killers the doctor had given me, and got their number off the stamp
And while we were taking down the number I noticed that the name of the doctor on the stamp was a woman. Which, weird, because a man performed the surgery.
But we were panicking and more focused on Mango, so we didn't think much of it. Mom called the number and the doctor lady answered.
Long story short, the doctor told us they were closed, and asked Mom if Mango's intestines could be seen through the opening in the wound, and if not, it wasn't a big deal. And Mom was like, "um okay sure but we'd still like you to look at it"
To which the doctor replies by,,,, screaming at my Mom???? "YOUR CAT MUST HAVE OPENED THE WOUND. IT'S NOT ANY FAULT OF OURS. THE CAT OPENED ITS WOUND"
My mom hung up on her, and we packed Mango in her basket and went out, desperately looking for a vet that was open at 15:30.
Ultimately, we went up to Peliyagoda, to a place that used to be a 24/7 clinic, only to discover that they'd changed their operating times post Covid. They'd only open again at 18:30.
Our tuk driver made some calls, found a trusted vet that one of his other clients went to, and got that guy's number. He said he was reopening for evening sessions at 5. Come then.
We went to the new vet at 5, as asked. He took one look at Mango and furiously told us her wound was infected and began listing out the blunders made by the first vet.
During the procedure, he told us that it definitely looked like the surgery was done by someone still in training, and he wanted to know whose clinic we went to.
We told him that the clinic was in the name of a Dr. (Mrs) Nirupa Dolamulla, but that she wasn't in the clinic and a young man, who's name was not on any signage or stamp, did the actual procedure.
Additionally, the stamp he used, HER stamp, said her clinic was in Biyagama. We live in Ragama.
The vet put two and two together. It's likely that this vet opens up clinics in her name, using her license, and then puts trainees in the new clinics while she runs her main one.
He's SURE the guy who did the surgery was a trainee. Apparently there's no way anyone who did such a bad job at a very routine procedure could have a license to practice yet.
So, friends, the point of this thread: if you're in the area and need to get your pet looked at, DO NOT go to this clinic. They were changing their signs yesterday, so I couldn't get their new name.
Basically they're near the Hants, just past the Navy Camp. Do NOT take your pets there, and if you have friends or family in the area, tell them to avoid them too. Even if the vets at the navy hospital recommend them.
I'm annoyed with the Navy hospital too (a story for another day) but they are the absolute better option if you're in our area, in a pinch and need a place close by.
