I can understand that a man who spent his entire life building a house and family will hate someone who brings trouble into his life. I think it's a bit lame, but I understand it.

I especially understand women who run away from this stuff. It would be a strange thing if women were willing to stand firm in the heat of such intense conflict. Assuming it's not your wife or family, it's a sign of health that they side with the more stable life-path.
