Hmmm. Trying Vue again reminds me of the problems that drove me away. I'm not clear from the web site which are still there so here's a short thread. If anyone is using the current version, shout out!

Key features not included in the lower priced versions, e.g.

1. Save with transparency channel
2. Textures for moons / planets
3. Exporting
4. High bit depth images

Aggressive DRM that made it a pain to use.

1. Upgrades painful, and user hostile.
2. Content provided with older versions de-activated on "up" grade.
3. Installing on a new PC painful and user hostile.

Models

1. Importing of models always messed up textures
2. No built in modelling capability to speak of.

Render times

1. Often very high, (the one at the top of this thread, 5 hours)
2. Very inconsistent, sometimes doubling image size sent render times through the roof.
3. Even at high quality settings, animations flicker
