/10 Today's #PfG in respect of Scotland's minority ethnic communities contains some positive initiatives however our early assessment is that it is timid + should have done much more. Thread covers where and some concerns of process.

/10 @JohnSmithCentre is an excellent initiative. Imperialism / Colonial representative group excellent. Take actions to tackle barriers in long standing areas, we'll need to wait and see. Better health data, good, but an existing legal obligation that should have occurred anyway
/10 We heard zero appetite for resources to directed towards an audit of failure, unclear why this has been deemed a high priority + who it is for. We did hear loud and clear @ethnic_network was the need for material, practical support especially in a PFG characterised by COVID
/10 Commitments on bespoke, bilingual professional mental health, using devolved powers to mitigate NRPF and creating a Race Equality Transformational Investment Scheme to mitigate continued austerity in respect of Race Equality are examples of community and citizen focused asks
/10 All of the Race focused input to the PFG has been developed between June - August by the ERG Covid / Ethnicity. The lack of direct community involvement in a PFG that affects them needs to be amended moving forward as a priority. Citizens must be front and center of policy.
/10 @scotgov must as an absolute priority publish the terms of reference, minutes and reports generated by the ERG that has been so influential in shaping the PFG in a year that will be defined by COVID. Communities need to see what has been discussed on their behalf.
/10 all of this is happening against a backdrop of @GlasgowCC proposing to rip the heart out of irreplaceable BME front-line services in our largest and most diverse city provided by @YCSA_Youth @RefugeeSurvival @AndoGlaso @AminaMWRC and many others
/10 Today was an opportunity for ambitious, substantive and material investment into mitigating COVID specifically in respect of BME communities. Ensuring our mental well-being, access to sustenance support, access to jobs, recognition of unique and shared impacts.
/10 Academic + community assessment of imperialism, colonialism welcomed. However abstract audits of past failures as austerity and NRPF rips the heart from key BME services and people fails to respond to the reality of needs today and tomorrow.
/10 Link to recommendations generated by 85 BME community organisations in responding to COVID in the short, medium to longer term below. We appeal to @ChristinaSNP to ensure that communities are central to responses that affect them moving forward
