The Lord's work really is being done by @BarryBlackNE this year.

When I say that they are not good, I mean the outcomes and the actual stats themselves are not good.
With outcomes, they show again that Care Experienced people are being left behind. Being moved around, missing school for meetings, inconsistent relationships take a toll.

They show that Care Experienced people don't get as many qualifications and that they aren't as likely to go from high school to uni as everyone else.
They are a warning about the impact of lockdown and subsequent measures on the attainment gap.

Methodology wise, the stats show us that when it comes to Care Experienced people, we only actually have a patchwork of information.
These stats are based on information gathered from a really small amount of people that is then aggregated up to be reflective of the population.
These stats are based on information gathered from a really small amount of people that is then aggregated up to be reflective of the population.
So they're not person centred, nor are they a genuine representation of what Care Experienced people can achieve. They don't reflect Care Experienced people who go on to further and higher education later in life.
In terms of my opinion - I also think it's unhelpful to keep releasing stats that no one in Scotland is all that bothered about. Especially when the stats aren't viewed as being useful by academics and the sector. Like, what else have you read about this today? Nowt.
I also think that raw data like this about a group of people and their performance in education invites people to explore their own judgments about why this is the case.
These stats are nothing to do with ability and everything to do with how the state looks after children.

Practically speaking, @whocaresscot , @VTOScotland and @BarryBlackNE are saying "Get children tutors."
It is...different to be encouraging the Scottish Government to do something that the UK Government is progressing. But here we are. https://www.whocaresscotland.org/who-we-are/media-centre/press-releases/5227-2/
