This is concerning. Implicit Bias Training (IBT) found its popularity among SJW's. "You're racist, especially if you don't think you are". It's helped them push their narrative of 'Everything is Racist' for years.

In their world, everything is racist, society, your government, you. Saying you have "unconscious racial biases" has allowed them to counter the reality that very few things are actually racist.
"racism is ... consciously or unconsciously passed down"

I'm not one to tell you that unconscious biases don't exist, they do.
What I'm here to tell you is that IBT is a wedge that opens the door for more radical policy, and that IBT doesn't even work within a reasonable margin for error.

IAT is what IBT is designed from. It's creators note the tests wide variability of accuracy depending on the context of its use and warn researchers that it's not a certain predictor of behaviour.
"its test-retest reliability stands at 0.60"

Let's not forget the Diversity Chief of Apple was left no choice but to resign, after making comments saying that diversity shouldn't stop at race. White people can be diverse and bring "a different life experience and life perspective to the conversation"

And you might be against her opinion if you are motivated by equity. Let's examine the difference between equity and equality of opportunity.
Equity has many definitions, including in finance, most use it in social justice to mean: something that is fair and just.
Equity has many definitions, including in finance, most use it in social justice to mean: something that is fair and just.
What this means is in an equitable system, being from a disadvantaged background (in whatever capacity that might be determined, being ethnic, from a poor neighbourhood, being a woman, being LGBT, see intersectionality for a likely source for a scoring system)...
... would be disproportionally aided to bring everyone up to the same "level" in society, in the workplace, anywhere that is seen as necessary.
Equity focuses on 'what' you are. And it seems on the surface, agreeable. People shouldn't face hurdles arbitrarily right?

Let's contrast now. Equality of opportunity says no one should have barriers to access society. It says that wherever you start from, you should be able reach your goal with as few legal and social dead-ends in your path as is possible.
It focuses on 'who' you are, not 'what' you are. It works tandem with the liberal philosophy of merit, which says that you get out of life what you put in.
Someone who works harder at school, earns a higher grade than those who don't, no matter the school or their background.

There are some good counter arguments to this, "poor students can't afford the materials for a wholly effective education", "the curriculum is a memory test not an ability test", etc, etc.
And they make good points, but capitalism, policy, etc, isn't the subject of this thread.

What is happening, ironically, is a shift from being against racism "This person is bad because x".
To being for racism, in the other direction "This person is good because x".
Again, let me be clear, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

We should celebrate our increasing inclusivity. It is not right that people face barriers to access society for such arbitrary reasons.
But it misses a middle ground, where race shouldn't really be a factor at all. People can just be, people.

And we can see this shift in the dictionary. One is a commonly understood definition of racism, discrimination simply based on skin colour or place of origin. The other is amended, to include power structures.

Because it's the system that's racist, therefore you are.
Racism is no longer ignorant bigotry. It's a deeply rooted power structure, convenient if you're a social constructionist whose goal is to rebuild society in their utopian image.

It's why California are simultaneously repealing their civil rights law... https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_16,_Repeal_Proposition_209_Affirmative_Action_Amendment_(2020)
... And legislating reparations. Taxing government to pay compensations for centuries old racial inequality. https://www.forbes.com/sites/rachelsandler/2020/06/13/california-assembly-passes-reparations-bill/
Again, no one is arguing that centuries of slave labour and genocidal levels of neglect is moral, just, or fair.
But it does seem that racism is agreeable in todays climate as long it travels in the right direction. There's a name for this, Affirmative Action.

In the UK we saw Affirmative Action in the form of diversity hiring. Companies in the UK must track the ratio of their employees ethnic identity, and campaigners are constantly pushing for "more representation" in the workplace.

Affirmative Action has been so successful in the UK, that back in 2016 we were talking about the shift that saw women outnumbering men in universities. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-37107208
