Ok folks, huddle up.

We are going to do this 1 more time

Why Biden winning Florida blunts this ->

1. Last Republican to go to WH without FL was Calvin Coolidge

2. Florida results - with rare exception - will be counted/published on Election Night

Let’s walk through it. 1/ https://twitter.com/mikeallen/status/1300741250686038017
In 24 days - Florida will begin mailing out vote by mail ballots

People will get them, and start returning them - with two stamps to be safe.

The Governor issued an order in June allowing counties to begin canvassing those ballots 22 days out
Those canvassing boards in each county - in a process that’s public will begin reviewing ballots. Accepted ones will go into a pile to be counted.

Rejected ones will go into a pile where voters can “cure” their ballot.

Again this starts 3 weeks out

Counties can begin opening in person early voting 15 days out - on October 19th. Most major counties will do this. Every county has to open up by 10/24. In person early voting ends on the Sunday before Election Day, Nov 1 - also the day the Jaguars play the Chargers
Vote by mail ballots must be returned by polls closing. You can return by mail, drop off at office, drop boxes, early voting sites, or take to your precinct on EDay

If you have a problem, the SOE is to notify you, and you have until 5pm on 11/5 to fix it...
But all these ballots are canvassed as they come in. in person early votes are fed into the machines. In other words, so while Florida a Man is riding a jet ski through town, Florida is counting as voting is happening

This is different than most states, hence the confusion.
And all of these results are released by the individual counties when the polls close - and in 2020, that might be as much as 70-75% of all votes.

Florida also tabulates Election Day voting quickly.

This is why, sadly around 7:45pm, I knew enough in 2016 to know it was done
In other words - we know if we win Florida it’s over.

We also know we will know rapidly.

So the fastest way to avoid the scenario @joshmendelsohn is rightfully worried about: Let’s go win Florida, and we can all rest that night
