Later this month, I am donating my bone marrow to an anonymous recipient. It feels so meaningful to give something so precious and not require anything in return. I already feel like this is one of the best things I will do in my entire life.
I am also trying to get 500 people to sign up for the bone marrow registry in honor of me and my anonymous recipient. @BeTheMatch has given me a personalized URL. Please join me: http://join.bethematch.org/melody
(And please RT this or share if you can.)

I don't know anything about my recipient other than their age and gender. I don't know where they live. I don't know what their political affiliation is. I just know that they need this bone marrow to live, and that I can give them this gift of life.
As our world changes and everything seems topsy-turvy, this is an easy and concrete way to help. I really appreciate my community on Twitter and I know we can do this.
Already, almost 100 people have signed up in the past 4 days. That's AMAZING. In all likelihood, you will never be called to do this. But increasing the numbers increases the chances for anyone who needs bone marrow. I really appreciate you doing this.
