why dune will be the best film ever
[THREAD]
“Set in the distant future amidst a feudal interstellar society in which various noble houses control planetary fiefs, Dune tells the story of young Paul Atreides, whose family accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis.”
“Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.”
The concepts of the desert world, the Fremen with their separate society and special skills, the power and the mysticism around the spice, and of course the towering figure of Shai-Hulud, the sandworms that stand out as an icon of the whole work.
One of the biggest pieces of media to impact Star Wars was Frank Herbert's 1965 novel Dune. The two share an enormous amount of similarities, from their galactic setting to their character journeys and more. The two share so much that Herbert complained that Lucas stole from him.
Dune is my favorite novel and Denis Villeneuve is my favorite Director and I have no doubt that he will do the novel justice in his adaptation. I'm not sure if there's any other director alive who I'd be less worried about adapting Dune than Denis Villeneuve. [1]
Sicario, Arrival, and Bladerunner 2049 are each amazing. If anyone is able to do a good job with Dune, it is probably him. [2]
Hans Zimmer will be composing the score for Dune, and given that he has said how much a fan of the source material he is leads me to believe this could be one of his best scores yet.
The cast is phenomenal and possibly one of the best casts I’ve ever seen. Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and many more.
There's a lot of talent in this lineup, and it'll be exciting to see them work together on a project this amazing.
