This thread is going to be shaky because I haven't really developed my own words. I usually listen (and retweet) the voices of those who matter.
Does skinny shaming happen? Yes and it is a weird experience to go through as your body is the ideal for the larger society but maybe not for your immediate community.
BUT!! My "struggles" (valid as they are) will never amount to those of a fat person as mine are not systemic.

Bringing up our "struggles" as skinny people literally sounds the same as a light skinned person bring up their struggles when colourism is being discussed.
All struggles matter and shouldn't be invalidate HOWEVER they aren't the same

Skinny shaming is only brought up when fat women are talking about their experiences.
I hope this sounds familiar because this is also done when women are talking about their sexual assaults and men bring up "but men also..."

Body positivity was created by and for fat people to love and celebrate their bodies. As inclusive as the movement is, it is IMPORTANT that fat people remain voice/image of the movement. The same way it is important that a white person doesn't become the face of BLM.
I hope these conversations don't discourage people from talking about their experiences BUT we have to constantly check our privileges.
