I'm absolutely terrified of traveling in a pandemic but I feel like we're gonna be to get out of here. It makes no sense to be paying nearly a grand in rent when Lynn can't work after the accident and lost her job due to the pandemic anyways. 1/10
Even if we can get disability for her the money BC gives for that will not be enough for rent and I can't imagine applications for disability going smoothly during the pandemic. I'm worried if we try and stay in this apartment out of complacency we'll end up homeless. 2/10
What she needs right now, what we both need, is someone to help take care of us until we're healthy and there is no one here to do that for her in Vancouver. I don't expect friends to make that sacrifice, mind you, but family is unwilling as well. 3/10
My mom turned 60 in July but honestly she's a better bet right now. Reality is, when Lynn's EI runs out then there's not even a reason to be in Canada necessarily except to avoid the immediate fires in the US but also it drives her crazy not being on the front line. 4/10
I don't like being caught between a rock and a hard place here. We already are gonna need a lot of help until the 15th and my mom can't help until the 10th at the earliest and even then, can't help much. What she can do is all stuff she needs to be physically there for. 5/10
Like, idk, it would be very helpful right now to have someone able to drive and who has a car and can stand to cook and has access to a full kitchen and we don't have that in BC but would in Detroit.
And it's also incredibly easy for Lynn to get US residency... 6/10

It's something I'm discussing, not deciding yet, but it feels like the sensible move. The apartment should be moved out of either way but given Lynn's relationship with her mother, I'd rather we move in with mine. Not permanently but during recovery. 7/10
Like, it's not like Lynn is getting the physical therapy she desperately needs here in Van as it is. IDK, it's great healthcare is free (terms and conditions may apply) but so was my Medicaid and I got optical, dental and mental health, too. 8/10
If you're capable of working, Canada is probably better but if you're eternally unemployable then a state with even a decaying welfare state like Michigan is better. I had food stamps, ffs! 9/10
IDK, just my depressed thoughts this morning. Guess I'll drop my PayPal in case people were having trouble donating to Lynn as my account is still established in the US. 10/10 https://www.paypal.me/elainediane
