This is kind of the same thing as when white people deny white privilege because they might have grown up poor...etc. no one is denying thin women may have their own body issues but it’s more person by person than systemic exclusion and a general ideal that fat bodies are bad https://twitter.com/bietjieg/status/1300742703123234816
The same goes with colourism. Maybe if you were the only light skinned person at school, you struggled with being bullied but that’s not the same struggle that dark skin face from society as a whole- make up colours and standards of beauty
The very first thing people come at me for when they disagree with my opinions is my weight. I’ve seen it with other fat girls. Fat is seen as unattractive and unhealthy. And undesirable. We have not until now seen our bodies celebrated and been told it’s ok to love ourselves.
Guys until recently we didn’t even have sizes over 16 in most high street stores. Clothing designers just said YOU DONT DESERVE TO WEAR OUR SHIT. We had to custom make or open up “plus size stores”.
You can name the plus size models coz there’s like 2 on supermodel status and like 4 in SA. Our sizes are not seen as normal. They’re called plus because there’s the norm and then everything else is extra. Can’t you see how even the language we use excludes us?
When a fat woman posts a photo in a bikini or crop top, people are always SURPRISED at the confidence. Waaay too many fat women don’t even know what it’s like to be at the beach with a costume because of the shame. It’s not the same no matter what personal feelings are
Megan thee Stallion twerks everyday comments: 😍😍😍😍
Lizzo twerks: “why does she always have to shove it in our faces”
Lizzo is vegan: “she probably eats burgers in secret”
Saweetie eats a triple stacked burger: “love women who eat 😍
At this point it’s not even about how you feel about yourself and your struggles. It’s about how we’re constantly (mis)treated because society says we’re not desirable enough to be worthy of respect or love.
Have y’all seen the comments when a handsome man has a fat gf?? Wild. And although men face it to, dad bods, big poppa, sexy chubby niggas don’t get the same slack as women.
I gym 3x a week, have added tennis, eat healthy and drink all the water, my body just doesn’t lose weight as easily. I can out-train and out-run my small friends. But the assumption when you look at a fat person is that they’re lazy and unhealthy. And that’s on fatphobia
