lrt is a fantastic thread about the different types of translation and how they relate to fandom and translating media from different cultures/languages

also why you shouldn't get on someone's ass about their translations, especially when:
a) they are technically correct but not YOUR preferred interpretation/emphasis (see this all the time esp. w manga)
b) you don't know the source language and are comparing 2 translations!

the thread is in the context of translating chinese media and is really interesting to me/something i need to be aware of & think about re: my understanding of the culture/language because its been a while since i've been in a fandom where i'm a total noob to all these things!

i love fandom these sorts of discoveries and discussions are so fun! so interesting!
