Why is our 0.7% International Aid budget commitment important?

THREAD - Just a few reasons below:

1. Our majority-winning manifesto said: "We will proudly maintain our commitment to spend 0.7% of GNI on development". Scrapping this will show our government to be untrustworthy
2. It is Britain's moral duty to protect the most vulnerable in the world. Individuals suffering across the world rely on Britain's commitment to spending this money.

3. Our aid budget is beneficial for Britain's soft-power. This is vital to making a powerful #GlobalBritain 🇬🇧
4. Taking the poorest individuals & countries out of poverty will improve Britain's trading relations around the world, thereby directly improving our economy & the living standards of the British public.

5. Cutting aid fuels unstable & corrupt regimes, harming British interests
6. Our aid budget helps to stabilise countries, thereby reducing the number of economic refugees having to come to Europe & therefore Britain.

Please @BorisJohnson & @DominicRaab - don't let this government become nationalistic, closed-minded & untrustworthy.
Thank you to the@Conservatives, whether on our #OneNation #LiberalConservatives side or not, & in other parties, for fighting to keep this pledge. @MoreUnitedUK
