Black-washing is not a thing nor is interpreting characters as black isn’t akin to whitewashing. A Black person having fun and making their own interpretation of a piece of media after being given little representation doesn’t hurt you. It’s not political either.

Anyways, when growing up, the most common positive rep I remember seeing regularly was being the Black Best Friend. In anime? Forget about it. Either they were non-existent or they unfortunately had a problematic design or personality.
