As I have covered in threads written before Hinduism believes in continuation of life. My emphasis has always been on trying to connect our ancient rituals with some facts that we have been able

To find out with modern science.
Most of us do what's told by Pujari or our parents on Pitra paksha. Sometimes a bit apologetically, wondering how would feeding crows help?
First let's start with who can do shraadh?
Contrary to the belief that Hinduism is patriarchal, anyone

Son, daughter, Daughter In law or anyone belonging to same Gotra. Bcoz people of same Gotra are considered relatives.

If u have read about Past life regressions, u would know that when we live in the world, we make & create debts. It's called attached Karma!

Thus helping the ecosystem, hence celebrated.

KakBhusundi : if u have ever heard any Hindu story, I would have heard his name.
He was considered the most knowledgeable & learned.

There are lot of point that I am unaware of or are lost in all these years.
But instead of discarding them as just rituals or impractical, we must make attempts to unearth the logic.
Also it's important to make our younger generation stay in touch with their roots.
