I’m from the ghetto.I have seen some youths full of potential do the silliest & most horrible things that may possibly ruin their future or hinder their progress .They don’t even realize it. To them their lives have no meaning. They’ve accepted their fate & that’s really sad.
And I always wonder why they resort to these methods of dealing with their pain and disappointment?
Is it because of the way we were raised?
Perhaps they lack exposure and they have never imagined a life different from the one they are already living so they have no desire to..
Want to do better and be somewhere ?
Can we put all the blame on whoever is running this country?
Why aren’t they keen on changing their situation?
Could it be that they have shallow minds ?
Is because they lack opportunity and they are obvious financial barriers?
But how do you rule out the possibility of your life becoming better at 20years?
You haven’t even lived yet.
The next best things for the girls is to get pregnant and live off of a husband who is also struggling. Who is responsible for teaching them to see things differently?
Teaching them to discover themselves a bit better and understand that they can work their way out of poverty?
Why are they okay with settling for the bare minimum?
So their lives will revolve around cheap drugs and sitting at the bridge and cat calling women?
What’s going to be their end game ?
What happens when they grow old and weary.Who will take care of them ?Who is gonna be around them so that they feel a bit of warmth and love and compassion?
What’s their end game?
Do people who ever leave the ghetto think of coming back and empowering the people they left there who have no desire to be better?
Of course it’s not their responsibility to do so but does it ever cross their minds at any given point?
I think about this a lot because I see these guys more often than I’d want to and it hurts .
I sure do hope one day I will be able to make change in anyway possible .
