First extreme racist experience thread: I was 12 years old, my parents allowed me to start going out by myself. I was riding my sister's bike around a local park and a white woman who coincidentally had a half Black daughter with her stopped me to ask how long I had the bike.
Followed by her saying she had an identical bike stolen in the neighborhood. I gave her permission to check the serial number then suddenly a blonde Karen jumps in and instantly starts trying to label me a thief. I get called a liar, a criminal then get get threatened.
I get asked where I live but I don't give that out and just say I live close. The threats involved me having a time limit to bring a parent or the bike stays with the lady who had her's stolen. Mind you she's just sitting by and letting Karen run the show.
I go to get my mother because at this point I'm having severe anxiety. She walks back to the park with me fucking furious. We show up to the park my mom instantly goes in on blonde Karen and she stutters the entire time. Mom snatches the bike and we go back home.
Woman who had her bike stolen also apologizes and says that she "never meant any harm". On the walk back home, my mom explains to me that I was just racially profiled and could've possibly been put in a dangerous situation.
It was difficult for me to process because the schools were teaching us that this kind of stuff was over. My reality wasn't the same since.
