and so the diner closes and everyone goes home and josie just has to sweep and mop and she’ll be done with her shift. it’s midwinter (

and since it’s midwinter what does that tell us class?
(it means they’re broken up) (so anyway josies mopping the floor and she hears someone knocking on the door and when she looks up she sees micah standing outside of the locked door with the snowflakes catching on his shoulders and hair and he grins at her)
(and micah just killed it in his game. king shit. and josie watched some of it since it was playing on the tvs in the diner and he asks her what she’s still doing here so late and she tells him she has to finish sweeping and mopping and he’s like “got it you sweep i’ll mop”
(at it’s important to note that they don’t really see each other that much at this point. there’s not a ton of contact. and he only stopped by bc he saw her in the window and was confused as to why she was still here so late. he was worried about her being here alone so late.)

jk i’m not patient enough for that (there’s music playing from the old radio behind the counter and they’re both there cleaning up and when josie looks up micahs standing there and he extends his hand and she’s confused for a second until she realizes he’s asking her to DANCE)
(and then they dance in the moonlit diner and at first he’s playful and spins her around and she’s laughing at the absurdity of it all but then he pulls her close and really holds her (for the first time in so long) and she kind of melts into him and rests her head on his chest—)
(—and they sway for a while like that bc somehow dancing seems like a loophole in the rule book of breakups)
