For those who live way out here and wholeheartedly endorse the "herd immunity" concept and think it's awesome ... consider how much undiagnosed ill health, like heart problems, lung/breathing problems, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, there is out here in rural America.
Think about the ag meetings you've been in and think about the wheezing and gasping when folks get up or when they've walked up or down a flight of stairs, think of the coughing and how genuinely concerning that sounds. Think of how overweight so many of us (me included) are.
Then consider that a lot of those wheezes and gasps and coughs and hacks, that extra weight, represent serious conditions that are undiagnosed and untreated because regular doctor visits aren't a thing out here and especially among the farming population.
Add into that children with immune issues, asthma, heart problems, and add into that high-risk adult populations like women with high-risk pregnancies, immuno-compromised folks and people who are on chemotherapy for cancer.
Letting #COVID19 just do its thing until whoever is left is naturally immune isn't a scenario that ends well for rural America in any way at all.
