It’s tough to overstate @SeemaCMS and @CMSgov’s commitment to saving and improving American patients’ lives. Today’s announcement on automatic coverage of breakthrough technologies was a huge step forward.
But check out all the other key strides Administrator Verma and her CMS team have made to ensure patients can access new innovations...
Improved process for breakthroughs to get New-Tech Add-On Payments (NTAP)—helping ensure providers use new breakthrough technologies + New add-on payment model to spur new technology development in dialysis treatment.
Improved coding process that allows physicians to provide new services to patients more quickly + Improved coverage policies by preventing automatic denial of new technologies
Enacted policies that allow patients to have access to diagnostic tests throughout the pandemic + Broadly expanded access to telehealth and remote monitoring during the pandemic and after
And that’s just to name a few. Set partisanship aside...good policy should be applauded. Thank you for your leadership, @SeemaCMS and @SecAzar.
It’s important to recognize when our federal health care agencies embrace policies that incentivize medical breakthroughs, promote innovation, and improve lives...in the past 3+ years, @CMSgov has done just that.
