Been reading through some old sermons of mine (~10 years old) and keep making the same assessment: too much exegesis and not enough Jesus. Need less explanation and more exultation.
Part of it is the younger-preacher-temptation or trying to show all my working.

Wanting to legitimate the message and show I’m being biblical. A good instinct perhaps, but the proportions were wrong. I spent too much time “explaining the passage” and not enough presenting Christ in all his burden-lifting beauty.
I recently heard an older preacher say that all sermons should be:
‘Christotelic’ - Jesus is the point/goal of each message.
‘Christophilic’ - each message should grow our affection for Christ.
