Hi there! I'm @kategabrielle and in a couple minutes I'll be live tweeting PURPLE NOON, airing on @TCM at 6pm EST! I hope you'll join in as I share my unbridled enthusiasm for Alain Delon and this fantastic film! #LetsMovie #TCMParty
I really hope everyone enjoys PURPLE NOON! It's my second most-watched film on my Letterboxd account with 10 watches. This viewing will bump it up to 11! You might think I like it or something 😉 #LetsMovie
Here are the books that I referenced for my live tweet. I also listened to this fascinating interview with Patricia Highsmith-
Since PURPLE NOON is in French with English subtitles, I'm going to try to time my tweets so that you don't miss out on something super important if you glance away from the film. But I'm also threading these so you can come back and read it later if it's tough to multitask â˜ș
Did the lady in red look familiar? That's none other than Romy Schneider! She was dating Alain Delon at the time of filming ❀ #TCMParty
When I was in Rome I stumbled upon Piazza del Popolo by chance & could not contain my glee when I realized it was the same place where they shot this scene! One of my tour group friends happily obliged when I asked for a photo in the same spot where Alain Delon stood. #TCMParty
Mrs. Popova is played by Elvire Popesco, a Romanian-French actress and stage director. This was her first film role since 1943.

Fun fact! She was an inspiration for Henri Matisse's painting La Blouse Roumaine. #TCMParty
I know today is Alain Delon day, but I hope that PURPLE NOON will also shine a spotlight on an underrated favorite of mine, Maurice Ronet. If you enjoy his performance as Philippe Greenleaf you might want to check out ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS (1958) and THE FIRE WITHIN (1963)
Ronet and Delon got along famously on set, and went on to star in four more films together. Delon once quipped about their relationship that "the job unites us once every ten years. The other times, it separates us. I would like to find the time to be Maurice Ronet's friend."
Summer is practically radiating out of my tv screen right now â˜€ïžđŸ”„ #SummerUndertheStars
I love this detail so much. When he pocketed the earring from the woman in Rome he knew exactly what he was going to use it for later. Ripley. has. a. plan. #TCMParty
This scene is so devastating! My heart breaks for Marge! #LetsMovie
Patricia Highsmith on the character of Tom Ripley wanting a better life for himself: "I think many young people want the same thing, but they don't use the same methods." Can't really argue with that lol! #SummerUndertheStars #TCMParty
I love the use of clothing to move the story along and drive home the message that this isn't just murder, it's identity theft. One of the first things that Ripley does after the murder is to change into Phillipe’s shirt. #LetsMovie
ahh I forgot to attach this photo to that tweet!
