Here we go.

#AB3088, the statewide eviction moratorium, up in CA senate now

if passed, will still need to make the rounds back to the Assembly
Well, as soon as it was up, we took a break!

Republican Senators asked for a brief caucus.

Sen. Borgeas:

"We were informed this matter would come up after dinner. This caught us by surprise."

Will reconvene at 3:01 p.m.
So Senator Bradford is describing the bill using the framing many have seen Democrats begin to construct in the face of overwhelming criticism from tenants groups

ways Bradford described the bill:

- a "bridge"
- by "no stretch of the imagination" the "end-all be-all"
Not that the Republicans have much power, at all, but for what it's worth ...

Republicans, particularly Sen. Borgeas, said he wants tax credits for landlords after this passes.

And doesn't want to see it last past January.
Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson notes "we never did get the banks" to negotiate, recommends pushing for that in future.

Jackson also pointed out failure of "so-called leadership in Washington" and said they must "step-up."

Sen. Is wearing a Wonder Woman face mask.
Sen. Patricia Bates says she represents the Orange County Apartment Association, and landlords have not been represented in this bill:

"I will be a no vote, and I will be a strong no vote, because I think this only considers one side of the equation again."
