instead of investing in PR, artists should invest in the content itself & create a consistent release schedule that includes more uploads to boost engagement (great photos, performance videos, short form music videos) prioritizing anything that can be used cross-platform.
Full length videos are often a huge waste of money. As long as you know that, and are doing it because you want to make cool art that& #39;s fine. But in terms of seeing a tangible return on investment (even engagement wise) they are historically trash lol at least in my experience.
Offer your fans more than you ask of them, and you will retain their interest, even if they don& #39;t like every individual thing you drop. Keep things consistant, with no noticeable gaps in quality. Things should get better over time subtly from mix to master to art etc..
People really enjoy the process of seeing artists they follow improve over time, and helps create long lasting core fan base that feel like they were along for the ride. But upward progression is the key. That takes objectivity, analysis, and most importantly, intention.
Lastly, just because you are not paying for PR does not mean you can’t put effort towards reaching out to publications with a well worded cold email. One artist I’m working with used linked in to track folks inside companies she wanted support from and reached out directly...
Ok lastly lastly lol, The key to the cold pitch is knowing your audience and knowing that what you are trying to get support for would actually fit well.. too many artists use a stock email and send it to anyone they can find. Do your research. Find like minded folks
