1 / 3 I was talking to a friend recently who had seen a list of seizure triggers and thought they had seen something which was a misprint or mistake. The list included ‘Waking’, which my friend thought was hilarious - waking up, a trigger for seizures?
2 / 3 I gently explained that actually, yes, for some people with certain forms of epilepsy, seizures happen only on waking and not at any other point in the day. It’s not common, but it does happen. It’s generally believed to be caused by the brain’s sleep/wake transition.
3 / 3 The moral here is that if you know a little or a lot about a condition, there is often more to learn and that if something is included in that kind of list, it’s not a mistake - it’s a learning opportunity for us. #StayStrong all you #EpilepsyWarriors 💜
