🔎FRANCISCO TRINCÃO under JdP's loop
[THREAD REQUEST by @FCBshazam ]
Trincão has been signed. Since his injury transfer was made official, the Portuguese winger has caught the attention in the football world, notably for scoring more and more goals- it's time to understand who he really is!
Trincão has played so far as a RW in a 3-4-3 possesion based system. He doesn't only excel offensively, but defensively as well. As a winger, he tends to stay out wide, this bringing depth. He's often seen overlapping with his corresponding fullback.
Pace & acceleration are easy attributes for him. If Braga are possesion based, counter attacks aren't rare. That's where his pace comes in, as his runs are more than useful to the team - being granted full freedom as he does tend to drift inside at times.
To fully understand his offensive prowess, we ought to talk about his defensive abilities. At Braga, he's been often tasked with gaining back possession if the ball has been lost. This isn't too hard for the tall forward (1.84m) as he can impose himself in duels.
His ability to retain possession is astonishing. Effectively, after winning possession, it isn't rare to see him marked tightly. However, the young player can shield the ball easily - partly thanks to his physique despite its not his only attribute.
This effectively allows him to keep the ball unto his feet whilst bursting forward thanks to his space. Cutting back is something the winger can do excellently, despite it can cause problems as well. In effect, Trincão's vision needs improvement.
And that is that he struggles to make the right decision making when he burst forward - too fast for his teammates, he tends to forget the group notion and should sometimes control the tempo a bit more. His finishing can be a problem, at times.
However, his instincts remind those of Ribery. In effect, he used to play as ST in his early days. This means he does have sometimes the instinct of moving out a defender in the box in order to create space in the box, allowing him to get better quality chances in the box.
What he needs to improve, as well, is his off the ball runs. I haven't seen many of them and that is a concern if he wants to play in Barcelona. He can play the LW, ST or RW - but the RW is where he seems best - though I'd be tempted to try him out in a false 9 position.
For me, he's a quality signing despite being similar to Collado. Nonetheless, we will have to see how the young star will cope in an environment like Barcelona's where we don't have a quality RB to overlap regularly.
