Someone just put a lengthy disclaimer on a doujin scanlation saying it is for education purposes, but it makes me laugh because no. All doujin scanlations are illegal. Period. Jpn doujinka don't allow it. They can file a case against these scanlators if they find out.
People fail to see that doujin scanlations are the same as reposted art. These scanlators don't have the permission to post and share these. No doujinka will allow it. All these doujins are distributed with the knowledge that it stays within Japan and consumed by a jpn audience.
If a doujin has been posted online outside of the artist's own websites, more so translated and distrubuted to other sites, it has been STOLEN.
Even if you claim you're not making money off of it, websites that hosts these doujins like MRM have a shit ton of ads and they do get paid from it. You are contributing to funding these sites illegally hosting stolen content by supporting and giving them even more.
Part of me always wished there were more bkt/d doujins available to read, but overall I'm glad there isn't. Because that just means the jpn bkt/d artists' works are not being exploited and stolen. They are protected.
I say this because most doujins I see online that have been translated are tdb/k. As much as I want to see more bkt/d doujins, this is for the best. I will buy my own bkt/d doujins and enjoy them for myself rather than hand them off to illegal sites.
Imagine if you scanned and posted an english BNHA zine online and translated it to a different language under the pretense than you're not making money off of it, you just wanted to share it. No one does that because it's bad, it's wrong. Everyone knows that.
But for some reason the same courtesy is not extended to doujin just because it's in Japanese. People think they have the freedom to just take these doujins and translate them and feel so innocent about it, like they did a service to the fandom. No, you are hurting the artists.
I've always been vocal when it comes to the legalities of doujinshi scanlation but what can I do but make useless threads that will just disappear into the void. It's just hilarious that scanlators have the nerve to put disclaimers when they have absolutely no right over them.
Lmao this one scanlator is overly aware they are doing something they shouldn't and are warning people not to tag the artist with theit scans, I'm just. The disrespect for jpn artists who can't properly speak english and will never find these scanlations.
They even removed the artist's Twitter handle just so readers can't find them. Imagine doing that to an english-speaking artist. Just because there's a language barrier doesn't make it okay.
So apparently the artist being scanlated by that scanlation group deleted their account after the scans were share. This further proves this thread. Scanlations are illegal and you are hurting artists, and yet this group continues to do scanlations.
Gotta love how people are blaming the person who shared the scan and not blaming the fcken scanlation group who is illegally scanlating the artist's work. The OP is even aware that it is illegal.
