Is racism more like climate change? (Thread)
*thinking out loud, reflections appreciated*

- acknowledge and accept the existential crisis, its history, structures, systems
- human engineered; no matter how "good" the individual, we are ALL complicit, we are all impacted
Racism/climate change

- Intellectuals have broadly agreed about the crisis and what is needed to change it, for DECADES (at least)
- fueled by power, greed, and capitalism
- negatively impacts EVERYONE and everything.
- Throws natural systems out of whack
Racism/climate change

- shapes the lived experience
- Foments dangerous phenomena (natural disasters/human violence?
- those that benefit most experience negative consequences the least, vice versa
- powerful people insist that ie does not exist, even
racism/climate change
though WE know that THEY know that it does
- Teach ALL people about it, to generate long-lasting systemic change
- need explicit policy/behavior change to address it
- everyone must respond with the fierce urgency of NOW (Agency)
