You can “train your brain” to see the surface rendered image when you look at the plain AP pelvic film - you just have to practice and work at it with numerous examples - soon you will be seeing so much and so many more details on plain films! Train and Work - #UCanDoIt
Here are the oblique surface rendered images
Similar to the obturator oblique, the posterior oblique image is also helpful to see the caudal-most portion of the intact ilium = this is the “spur”
We used an ilioinguinal exposure on a regular table to clean the fracture surfaces and then reduce them - the AC is reduced and plated, and the PC is clamped prior to screw fixation - a sturdy wire helps to keep the PC reduced as well until the internal fixation construct is in
Our plates function like our thumbs would - if we were holding these pieces together with our thumbs! - the clamps are positioned so the plates can be precisely applied to have optimal function - lag screws are also used through the plates whenever possible
The final construct looks like our preop plan and drawings - we always critique the result for improvements that could be made - maybe you can spot some things that you would do differently
