#OnamIsForHindus
As Hindus of Kerala celebrate #Onam with much fanfare, we come across dolts who say Onam is not religious festival, but a cultural one which includes all religions...

I have few questions for these Idiots & meanwhile, I also prove logically & through Puranas
+ Christian Materials why Onam is purely Hindu festival...
Let’s start from #Panchangam, the most basic aspect which decides the dates of 10 day Onam festivities..
Date of Onam is based on the Panchangam and falls on the 22nd Nakshatra #Thiruvonam in the month Chingam of
Malayalam calendar.
This Malayalam Calendar or Kollam Era is a solar calender used in Kerala. The origin of the calendar has been dated as 825 CE.
Onam is celebrated to commemorate #BaliChakravarthy, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. It is also a Harvest
Festival & New Year Day for Malayalis.
I came across “Dolts, within Dolts” saying Bali is a Dalit & Brahmin Vamana killed him, even here, they are wrong, Bali Chakravarthy is great great grandson of Kashyapa Maharshi & Kashyapa is Brahmin.
(Kashyapa’s son Hiranyakashipu was
Brahmin too, but he is considered as Demon, just saying that one cant be Brahmana by birth, but have to acquire it).
When Bali defeated Devas and conquered 3 worlds, Devas approached Vishnu Bhagawan for help, Vishnu didn’t want to hurt Bali for 2 reasons..
One being Grandson of
Prahlada & the other reason is Bali, was a good & pious ruler.
Later as per purana, Bali wanted to conduct Homa & grant anyone any request during the Yajna.
Narayana, decided that it was the right time for his next avatar & turned into #Vamana, the 5th of #Dashavatara,
approached Bali.
The king offered anything to the boy – gold, cows, elephants, villages, food, whatever he wished. The boy said that one must not seek more than one needs, and all he needed was "three paces of land." Mahabali agreed.
Vamana grew to an enormous size and covered
everything Mahabali ruled over in just two paces. For the third pace, Mahabali offered his head for Vishnu to step on, an act that Vishnu accepted as evidence of Mahabali's devotion. Vishnu granted him a boon, by which Mahabali could visit again, once every year, the lands and
people he previously ruled. This revisit marks the festival of Onam, as a reminder of the virtuous rule and his humility in keeping his promise before Vishnu.
According to Roshen Dalal, who wrote “Hinduism – An Alphabetical Guide” the story of Mahabali is important to Onam in
Kerala, but similar Mahabali legends are significant in the region of Balia and Bawan in UP, Bharuch in Gujarat, and Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra. The story is significant not because Mahabali's rule ended, but it emphasizes the Hindu belief in cyclical nature of events, that
no individual, no ruler and nothing lasts forever, except the virtues and self-understanding that overcomes all sorrow.

There’s another version of Onam which predates to 2CE, which says Vishnu’s 6th Avatar, #Parashurama, after defeating & killing Kaartavirya, he threw the axe
& wherever it fell, the sea retreated, creating the land of Kerala and other coastal western parts of Bharat.(This story matches with CaboDeRama, place in Goa, where they tell the same, I myself have visited thrice.)
Another version states that Parashurama brought
Namboodiri Brahmins to southwestern parts of Bharat, by creating a mini-Himalaya-like mountain range with his axe.
The Onam festival, according to this legend, celebrates Parashurama's creation of Kerala by marking those days as the new year.
The legend and worship of
Parashurama is attested in texts and epigraphs dated to about the 2nd century CE.

Now let’s read about place, Thrikkakara which is originated from 'Thiru-kaal-kara' meaning 'place of the holy foot'. The main deity at Thrikkakara
Temple is Vamana, the smaller temple to the side has Shiva.
Finally, a Christian Missionary Paulinus of St. Bartholomew (1748-1806), from Austria who lived 200 years ago, in his 'A voyage to the East Indies' describes Onam as
The fourth grand festival, celebrated in Malayala,
is called Onam, and happens always in the month of September, on the day of new moon (not always). About the 10th of September the rain ceases in Malabar. All nature seems as if regenerated; the flowers again shoot up, and the trees bloom, in a word, this season is the same as
that which Europeans call spring. This festival seems, therefore, to have been instituted for the purpose of soliciting from the Gods a happy and fruitful year. It continues eight days and during that time the Indians are accustomed to adorn their houses with flowers and daub
them over with COW's DUNG; because #TheCow, as already observed, is a sacred animal dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi, the Ceres of the Indians. On this occasion they also put on new clothes throw aside all their old earthenware and supply its place by new.
Tell me Oh Seculars,
from when you started worshipping Gau, Gau Mutra?
The last time, you killed Cow and Calves on Road & ate Beef to protest against Modi Government.
The 10 Day Onam, concludes with Thiruvonam. The ten days are sequentially known as Atham, Chithira, Chodhi, Vishakam, Anizham,
Thriketa, Moolam, Pooradam, Uthradam and Thiruvonam. The first and the last day are particularly important.
The Onam celebrations across the state starts off with a grand procession at #Thrippunithura near Kochi called Atthachamayam, also referred as Thripunithura Athachamayam.
The parade features elephants marching, drum beats and other music, folk art forms, floats and colorfully dressed people with masks.
The procession path historically has been from Tripunithura to the Vamanamoorthy Temple in Thrikkakara.
At the Thrikkakara temple, every day of
the festival showcases #Kathakali & other traditional dance forms including Thiruvathira, Kummattikali, Pulikali, Thumbi Thullal, Onam Kali.
2 Days after Thiruvonam, there is #Avvittom which marks the preparations for King Mahabali's return ascension to HEAVEN.
Just like we
install Murti’s of Ganesha, Keralites install Vamana Murti called Thrikkakara Appan or Onatthappan in their homes.
The main ritual of Avvittom is to take the Onathappan statue which was placed in the middle of every Pookkalam (Rangoli in flowers) during the past 10 days and
immerse it in nearby rivers or sea.

I wish those Secular Sidekicks explain how Onam is not Hindu.
