"If I were president today, the country would be safer and we'd be seeing a lot less violence," Biden says.
"Mr. Trump, want to talk about fear? You know what people are afraid of in America?" Biden asks. "They're afraid they're going to get covid. They're afraid they're going to get sick and die. And that is no small part because of you."

Biden is very clearly staking out territory not just on the left but in the middle as he decries looting and declares "I am not banning fracking."
Biden's speech just now was a rebuttal to Trump's convention speech and efforts to reshape the terms of the presidential race.
