What the public is not at all inoculated against is when the race is close on Election Night and ( @News12NJ alum) @SteveKornacki is on the touch screen pinging from county to county, what that actually means in the context of the race. Every state counts their ballots differently
Some historically high VBM states begin to verify them about 20 days before Election Day. In 35 states, the process starts early, and in 12 of those states, election officials can begin checking the validity of mailed ballots as soon as they're received. 3/
That means 15 states don't start verifying until Election Day! Verification happens before counting which could delay election results and a clear winner in the Presidential and other tight federal races by weeks. 4/
Here's the rub: As those perfectly legal and legitimate mail-in ballots are counted after Election Day, Joe Biden's vote share is going to increase — dramatically. @NavigatorSurvey found a 50 (!) point gap in those who planned to vote by mail for Biden vs. Trump. 5/
TL;DR: We're not going to have an Election Night, we're going to have an Election Month where we can assume the President, who contested an election that he won, is going to cry foul. People need to know NOW what their states ballot counting processes are to protect the results.
