Sometimes, even when things are hard for yourself and you've told people you needed time to vent / be alone / express in other places,

You must also be better at controlling your words. People will look at you in a different light, even when you aren't addressing them.
At times, the negative mindset you have (which came without your permission, due to damaging events in your environment), needs to be channeled into safer and healthier solutions.

People.. aren't the best solutions. Some can be invested; others not so. Here're some alternatives:
1) Consider watching old clips of your favorite movie / show.

2) Enter the old ears of yours. Go back to old playlists. Remember who you were, before the present wisdom that you hold.
3) Look at old memories. Some are so painful.. so be mindful of where you take your eyes. The videos, the pictures. You might feel a higher appreciation of the present, now that the past has been left behind in your dust.
4) Create a checklist. If you already have one, then great! The checklist shouldn't just include work plans and study plans.

Place movies you wanna watch. Shows you wanna start. Activities you wish to do when you have time.

If you're down.. these things MIGHT be do-able.
5) Reconnect. Find an old friend. One that's easy to reach.

Show genuineness. Ask them how they are. Sometimes a simple chat could just work. It reminds you what other people are doing

Venting is too much?
Just hear their day and week.
AS LONG AS they show interest to talk too
6) Breathe.

Breathing is so underrated. Sometimes you need to walk to somewhere to breathe. To a balcony. To the outside. At the right time of days.. the world - minus the humans - is a naturally beautiful landscape. Appreciate the things built from the cosmos. Breathe it.
7) Keep some reassurance cards or smthng.

If you've been down way too often and finally have the motivation to take things into your own hands, create a fail-safe emergency plan.

Write and cut out assurance words. Put them into a box. Use them when you're at your weak times.
8) Shower.

Go bathe. Don't waste water, but. If you enjoy your shower enough.. its a great place to sing. Low tone.. high tone.. just sing that song. Let it out. Create a new song from your own mind and emotions. Don't stray too far from the objective, which is to de-stress.
