Yet again the government releases crucial information via Twitter.

After seeing this tweet I got in touch with some families.

They told me that when they inquired with agencies about the updated rules this morning, the agencies weren't aware of any changes. 1/5 https://twitter.com/ONSocialService/status/1300433160790966272
I remain concerned that these documents are supposed to provide "guidance" to agencies and group homes. This has been the norm thus far.

The "guidelines" leave a lot to the discretion of the individual homes. It will be applied differently across the board.

The other issue is the actual guidelines.

This section is shockingly devoid of any awareness of accessibly needs (re: mask use, understanding a screening questionnaire). Will homes be able to deny outings because folks w intellectual/developmental disabilities can't comply? 3/5
For the families who will now be able to see their loved ones - I am so incredibly glad. But not all will. And I am so deeply sorry that for 6 agonizing months you have all been denied the meaningful care & support of your family.

We still have a LOT of work to do. 4/5
My #MoreThanAVisitor motion for an Essential Caregiver Strategy is more important than ever.

There must be clear directives so that the rights of residents are respected & upheld. Forced separation cannot happen again. 5/5
