So there's been a lot of talk about banning ADP recently. And, you know, I've complained about it as well, and I don't think it's a bad idea necessarily, but I want to discuss this a little bit. (1/5)
First thing: yes, ADP kills one Prize decks, but banning it won't suddenly "fix" the format. It's still heavily weighted in favor of Tag Teams and VMAXs. This is a wide design issue, it's not just about ADP. Let's be honest about it. (2/5)
I think it's very good that we, as a community, say "we're in charge, so we can (try to) make the game better than it would be otherwise". We're free! We could decide to play more pre-rotation format, unban Bellelba and Mismagius, etc. But here's the risk: (3/5)
People are calling for bans all the time. There are people who want to play without Boss's Orders. Grant Manley wants to remove Marnie from the format. How do we decide which bans are good, and which are too much? (4/5)
I don't really have an answer. I approve of experimentation! Let's just keep in mind that if each organizer has their own ban list, it could push newcomers away, as they have to adapt to a new format everytime. (5/5)
