Big brain time! #Bingjiu
In the PIDW-verse Shen Jiu doesn't die but his soul gets sucked into Xin Mo instead. Luo Binghe is unaware of this, so his deranged mourning and subsequent violent outbursts is seen by Shen Jiu.
Not only that, Shen Jiu aggravates Xin Mo's influence on his mind and succeeds in further tampering with Binghe's rapidly spiralling sanity.

Shen Jiu wants to enact his long envisioned revenge on his tormentor slowly inch by inch until he feels Luo Binghe's existence is at
his mercy.

Only to realise, he didn't need to in the first place. Luo Binghe had already gone far off the deep end to the point where Shen Jiu, Shen Qingqiu, his Shizun had corroded every part of his mind and heart.

The reason he seemed in control of Xinmo's influence before,
was because he had centred his whole being around Shen Jiu. As long as Shen Jiu was alive and in his life, he would be okay. Counter-productive according to Shen Jiu.

But looking at how easily Luo Binghe was crumbling in front of his eyes, he derives a sense of sick pleasure.
Until he can't digest it anymore. Every corner of Luo Binghe's mind he barges into, he finds out that he's looking at his own reflection.

In the end, Shen Jiu is trapped inside a jail he designed. Everywhere he looks, he sees himself. Taunting, hurling abuses, sneering.
In the beginning he felt if he tortured Luo Binghe enough, the man would suffer and he would revel in it.

But in reality, everytime Shen Jiu appears in Luo Binghe's mind to torment his disciple, the half-demon is beyond ecstatic.

Happy to be receiving anything at all from
his Shizun. Happy to be in his presence and not alone.

Luo Binghe slowly descends further into madness and takes Shen Jiu with him.

Along the way, Luo Binghe begins to feel more alive as he sees Shizun in his visions, and along the way Shen Jiu begins to look at Luo Binghe
with fondness.

The two are coiled around each other, one stuck in a trap of his own making, the other refusing to let go of a man who is dead but so very much alive in his mind.

The two thrive in the depths of their combined madness, uncaring as the world around them burns.
I don't even know if this makes remotely any sense lol. Well, have some messy Bingjiu my brain conjured up this late at night.
