GUYS! I need you help. My husband is a high school history teacher and football coach in Pike County High School in Zebulon, GA. His heart lives for his students, and he knew he had to start changing his teaching curriculum to teach black history (thread)
The first day of school he wrote “Black Lives Matter” on his board. Another teacher teaches in his classroom first period and last week at some point, a student wrote “no they don’t” underneath
He was then approached by his principal that he had gotten phone calls from parents that he had that on his board, and were relating it to “political” or a “religious affiliation” and was told he needed “context” if he was going to keep it up
He reached out to the first period teacher to see if he could speak to her class about writing on his board and respecting boundaries. She replied that she didn’t want her students to be exposed to that again citing “religious” and “political” reasons
