So, don& #39;t democracy, is what you& #39;re saying, Claire?
I& #39;ll pass, thanks. https://twitter.com/ClaireBerlinski/status/1299350412085145600">https://twitter.com/ClaireBer...
No.
Getting on the streets has historically been necessary. What if MLK had gotten off the streets?
What if the Vietnam war protests had gotten off the streets?
Senators need to be mobbed, at dinner, at the theater. Not injured, no, but mobbed. They won& #39;t answer their phones etc
Just sitting at home is what got us here. Just sitting at home is what got Trump elected. Just sitting as home is why change hasn& #39;t happened.
Yes, voting is so damn important.
But just sitting at home is not anywhere close to enough.
It should be damned uncomfortable...
To be a sitting senator who ignores their constituents. It should be damned uncomfortable to be a mayor who isn& #39;t doing anything to make sure their police force isn& #39;t murdering people in their beds.
And they should know we& #39;ll vote them out of office, too.
Being loud in the streets, yelling at senators, sometimes even being hysterical is just as much part of democracy as voting is. It& #39;s just as important. It& #39;s just as warranted, now just as ever.
Senators aren& #39;t listening to their constituents when we contact them in the "normal" ways.
So we get to scream hysterically.
Why is it not okay to damage property in response to murder but it& #39;s okay to murder in response to property damage?
