There have been a lot of reports of BYU students not wearing masks. Today is the first day of school for the undergraduates. At least 90% of the undergraduate I see outside are wearing masks. Those who are not, they are social distancing. Heading inside now
I just cut through the WILK. Almost everyone was wearing a mask. Two of the four people I saw without masks for men who were in their 70s. (We are doing this in large part for dudes like this!) The other two were students. The students have them, but they were not wearing them.
Walked in the law school. Some students studying outside are not wearing masks but all are social distancing. All people in the law school seem to be masked up! Well done BYU Law!
I believe students understand that while it is uncertain if an in-person experience can be had without runway COVID-19 cases, everyone doing their part is essential.
Much of the risk of the pandemic will confront students off campus. I get that. I am grateful for the Provo City Council for passing a mask mandate. This is an experiment. Assuming I survive it, I will let you know how it is going :)
