The intense scrutiny to the point of running non-stories as front-page items for months, the sexualized repugnance for his person, the willful refusal to contextualize his quotes or actions, the insistence that he must be perfect or he is worthless... doesn& #39;t happen to white men.
Biden is famous for saying stupid stuff or going off-script -- and, admittedly, I don& #39;t like him much, though I& #39;ll vote for him -- but that gets translated into a sense of "likability" or "authenticity," of good old Uncle Joe speaking his mind, which women do not have access to.
Even if the coverage were equally unfair or slanted, it would not have the same impact, because there& #39;s not the same underlying cultural tendency to dislike and resent and mistrust him. The punches will always land softer because Biden is cushioned by his gender.
