#RPGaDay2020: EXPERIENCE

XP determines not only how quickly PCs advance, but also what players are rewarded for. When designing a new #ttRPG system keep in mind all four types of play, not just combat. 1/
As a GM don't hesitate to reward players with some additional XP for something that may not be specifically called out in the rules like co-operation, creativitiy or RP. Allow the players to determine what kind of gameplay suits them vs. forcing them into it. 2/
I personally dislike the notion of "levelling up." I prefer to let players spend XP as they wish instead of having to wait long periods of time to do a mass upgrade to their character. They may still want to save some XP for a larger feat or skill but it gives them more agency 3/
In #KaleidoscopeRPG players can invest XP in their skill tree or upgrade some of their base stats. This allows them to customize their characters more. Here's a partial example of the "Challenger of Fate" skilltree I crated for the Candy bot mentioned in a previous tweet. 4/
