Also maybe stretch, it’s easy to forget you have a body that has needs & feels pleasure when you’re all caught up in social media
While you’re feeling your body now is a good time to check in and see how you are feeling: are you hungry? Do you need a walk?
What about your emotional needs? Do you need a hug? COVID can make that tough but maybe you could message a friend, which feels pretty close.
How’s your environment? Does it make you happy, does it make you feel safe? What’s ONE thing you could do to make it feel cozier, more comfortable, or more inviting? Creating an environment that makes us feel good is self-care & self-care is revolutionary.
Searching out info & finding voices that affirm our concerns, beliefs, and fears are all real parts of survival! Taking a break & coming back to our true homes- our body & mind & immediate surroundings- matters too, and will help keep us grounded.
This is not a sprint. It’s not even a marathon. Conflict, fascism, authoritarianism- it is an environment, and survival is a set of skills. Brute force is not how a people makes it though an environment of brute force: we will survive through acts of attention.
It’s okay to take a break & be kind to yourself! Even John Wayne wasn’t John Wayne (he was born a Marion). Eat, sleep, masturbate (it’s FREE!), take a walk, bake cookies, it’s okay: this mess will be here. ❤️
