In a world where we do eventually sign James Rodriguez, I’d be gutted if we didn’t take advantage of his value off the pitch. He’s a football a-list celebrity, you don’t mind paying the £25m for him if he raises the profile of the club & brings us thousands of new fans.
For perspective - In terms of followers on Instagram, Rodriguez has:

- 44m more than Tiger Woods.
- 31m more than Rooney.
- 27m more than Ferrari.
- 26m more than Lewis Hamilton.
- 19m more than LFC.
- 14m more than Dan Bilzerian.
- 10m more than MUFC.
- 6m more than the Prem.
We need to be milking the cash-cow dry on this, little pre-season in USA/South America. Maybe a partnership with an airline. We had debatably USA’s biggest ever star in Tim Howard & only went over there once from what I remember, it was before his famous 2014 World Cup as well!
In years gone by, I don’t think we took full advantage of the likes of Cahill, Howard, Rooney & their followings. Sounds boring(understandable) & it is but that plus success is how a football club grows its fanbase.
In 2018, Liverpool played Man Utd in Michigan during a pre-season friendly & it gathered an attendance of 100,000. Their fan bases have obviously grew from success over the years but we need to be better commercially when marketing our players to compete with that.
Out-of-interest, how many of our followers are foreign to the city of Liverpool but began following Everton? And why?
