This was heartbreaking to cover. Just a few things I want to add:
1. It's absolutely possible for an 8yo to commit suicide without help
2. Children's feelings are valid and 'big' enough for them to consider suicide.

4. The fact that a child is able to carry out the act doesn't mean the parent was neglectful. This little girl's mother was cooking, and she went in the yard like normal kids do on a Saturday.

5. It could happen in any of our families, regardless of our best efforts.

6. The best we can do is pay attention to those around us, including our children. Remind them that they are loved and valid. And be kind to people we interact with, even strangers, because we can't always tell when something is amiss.
