as a trans person, here's why the attack helicopter joke is transphobic!

firstly the obvious,, that it's used to invalidate nonbinary people by inferring that their identity isn't real (aka, you can't "be" an attack helicopter, you can't be nonbinary)
secondly, it mocks xenogenders, which are genders that revolve around concepts or objects rather than male-female-enby. people who id with xenogenders struggle with hate both in and outside of the trans community without the attack helicopter "joke"
thirdly,, a lot of trans people struggle with their identity and accepting themselves. it's not just "oh I'm a boy/girl/enby now", it can take years to come to terms with your own identity, not to mention a lot of people have internalised transphobia and other barriers to face.
it's not as simple as "oh I identify as this" in most cases. trans identities are not a joke and shouldn't be treated as such.
