Enrolled in Silica Institute at Dadar, a leader in entrance exam coaching for architecture and design. Engineering was second option and... 2/
Just like that we attended a free talk at PACE IIT Coaching institute at Anushakti Nagar. Daughter was so inspired that she said she wants to join that, too. Her mother worried on capacity to handle college (XI-XII) plus two different coaching regimens... 3/
Especially because the IIT coaching was not one of those integrated or hybrid options where HSC college timings would be coordinated. Accelerated self-learning of BEST bus routes and overall time management skills was a big bonus! 4/
Brilliant app m-Indicator was a timely tool. Slowly the pressure and overlap of lectures started. Small irritants were noticed and expressed in the traditional teaching style of the design entrance exam coaching 5/
But, returning home post 9 PM after a 14-hour schedule, daughter would gush about what an interesting debate the physics or math teacher had in class, and the laughter etc. 6/
Those teachers, of course, were young twenty somethings, all ex-IITians who left high paying jobs with top consulting or other firms to be teachers at PACE who were rigorously measured on content/style/effectiveness 7/
IIRC by the beginning of Class XII it was abundantly clear where her interests lay. Any timing clash or other potential reason always meant skipping the arch entrance class. 8/
Memory is hazy now (survival instinct
) but some sunk cost like "discussions" happened before letting things take their own course (pun not intended) 9/

Eventually, though NATA/MAT etc. were attempted, it was in JEE and BITSAT that the scores showed the effort and she enrolled in BITS. 10/10
