What if we focused on processes instead of things? Verbs instead of nouns? What if we abandoned Cartesian dualistic thinking and adopted instead Peircean triadic thinking? How does this allow us to see reality differently?
What is wrong with thinking of the world in terms of things? We bias our thoughts into believing in the static and unchanging. We seek permanence, we are driven towards preserving the status quo. We avoid seeking growth.
What is wrong with seeing the world through a Cartesian dualistic lens? We see the world only in black and white, with zero variation in between. We seek only simplistic solutions that are devoid of any balance. All situations are zero-sum game and not win-win.
These two biases are baked into our thinking, it is ubiquitous in our language. We are encumbered by our society to think only in a mechanistic manner. That is because those of the top of society need people to think like machines.
To blindly see themselves as an unquestioning being, one that doesn't see beyond the established norms. One that accepts their fate as being just a cog in the wheel.
We have created a society where we have become the automation. When real automation finally arrives, we are unable to adjust our perspectives because our minds our in a permanent jail of existence.
It is the emergence of Artificial Intelligence that kicks us out of our shared delusion. It makes clear the distinction of biological and the mechanical. We finally realize that we cannot be the same as a machine.
The alternative approach of being verb-focused and triadic thinking leads us to one with an intuition about complexity and thus emergence. It affords us a stance of being that is organic with this world. A stance that enables us to cope with exponential complexity.
Our paleolithic brains evolved to be in tune with nature. Naturalistic intelligence of our ancestors gave rise to verb-focused languages. However, civilization has created medieval institutions that are like Iron Maidens for our thinking.
One is successful in medieval institutions by being very creative in propagating the status quo. The most successful of our species are the ones who are creative in gaming the system.
The best prescription for success is to defect from the status quo. This involves either gaming the system for one's own private benefit or challenging the status quo for the benefit of the many.
