Let’s start from the very beginning.
Draft is the American way of playing fantasy. Every team is different, ownership % is not an issue, the word differential doesn’t exist and your team really is YOUR team.
Only 1 manager has Salah, 1 has KDB, another has Auba.
A lot of fun! 😀
▪️League type 👥
The 1st thing you need to do to experience the #FPLDraft to it’s fullest is create an Head-to-Head league, NOT classic scoring.
▪️League structure 🧮
8 teams would be ideal, 10 teams would be the absolute max, don’t go over 10.
Befroe draft day: 📖🔍
Enter the draft room to create a watchlist according to the number of teams participating (on a 10 team league you’ll need 150 players on that list, so take your time with it).
Your list should look like:
📍Premiums (all positions)
📍FWD
📍MID
📍DEF
📍GK
Picking wisely: 💡
Here is where it gets interesting 🧐You should draft in the following order:
🔸First you have your premiums 💎Your Salah, KDB, Mané, TAA etc. Those usually last around 15 picks.
Pick the one you fancy the most when it’s your turn. >>
🔸Beware of injury prone players 🚑🤕
When picking a premium, prioritize players that rarely get injured over the likes of Aguero/Kane that will leave you with a premium looking bench at least a few weeks every season.
🔸Consistency > Explosiveness:
This is a huge aspect of the game. Because it’s H2H then it doesn’t matter if you win by 2 #FPL points or 20, you still get only 3 points for the win. That is why you need as many returns possible from your players every single GW >>
For example sterling scored 10 points more than Jiménez last season, but had many more blanks.
In a hindsight that would actually make Raúl the better pick for the draft.
🔸2nd tier: 🥈
The reason you should consider preferring FWD > MID > DEF like I said is that simply there are just less quality FWDs.
This changes of course if somehow your first 2 premium picks were FWDs. >>
Another reason is it usually doesn’t matter if you get the 2nd or 4th DEF from most teams.
Here also like in the premiums, prioritize players that play 90 every match over others that could do well in some matches but aren’t nailed. It will save you from that 1 point cameo pain.
Using your picks as assets: 💸
This one is a bit risky.
Picture this scenario - it’s your pick and the next obvious pick is someone you don’t fancy.
You can draft him and immediately trade him to upgrade a later pick on a 2-3 player trade.
It’s tricky though, so beware.
Not actually a zombie team: 🧟‍♂️
Last thing you should be aware of is that even though it looks like there will never be any good players to sign on a waiver of free agent you’ll eventually realize that at least 1/3 of your team will change by the end of the season. >>
Some of your picks will flop, other players who flew under the radar on draft night will emerge, so don’t worry about your initial team that much.
You only need to get 50% of your picks right in order to be a contender for the title. >>
That’s also the reason you shouldn’t be afraid to take one week punts on players you would normally overlook, if they have a good fixture coming up.
Making 3-4 transfers a week isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Element of luck: 🎰
In a H2H league the element of luck is much greater. The ‘matches’ pairing could easily decide the title winner by the end of the season.
So many times you could have an amazing GW only to be paired up vs. the team who had the best GW in your league. >>
That means you would have beat anyone else but them. Then again it works the other way around as well. You could scrap a win and 3 important points with a horrendous GW.
Rarely does the manager who scored the most #FPL points wins the title.
That’s it.
If you made it this far you might just bettered you’re chances in you #FPLDraft team 🤞🏻
